Mindfulness Yoga with Cathy-Mae Karelse
10.00am - 4.00pm, Sunday 05 November 2017.
Venue Old Stratford Community Hall, Deanshanger Road, Milton Keynes MK19 6NL.
The aim of the day is to convey an understanding of mindfulness, its relevance in society, a brief history of teaching mindfulness, it’s purpose, benefits, value and its pertinence to yoga practitioners and teachers.
Exploration of formal mindfulness practices such as the body scan, mindful walking and further techniques such as the breathing space.
The day’s focus:
- appreciate the value of mindfulness and its application to yoga
- completed a yoga practice infused with mindfulness principles
- experienced mindfulness practices, noticing how this has affected them
- have taken and experienced further mindfulness practices and tools
- understand the difference between mindfulness and relaxation
- be in a position to identify which mindfulness practice most appealed to them that day.
Please bring your lunch, Yoga mat, blocks, blanket, walking shoes (optional)
Pre-reading such as Tich Nhat Hanh's The Miracle of Mindfulness is not compulsory but would add value, as would Eckhart Tolle's A New Earth OR The Power of Now.
All interested in mindfulness are most welcome.

Cathy-Mae Karelse is a Yoga Therapy Trainer, a Mindfulness Trainer and an Ayurvedic Practitioner with an MSc in Ayurvedic Medicine. She is also a Diploma Course Tutor for the British Wheel of Yoga, trains yoga teachers, and teaches Ayurveda in the BWY Ayurveda Module. She has a Practice and trains yoga therapists through the Integrated Yoga Therapy™ programme which is fully accredited by the British Council for Yoga Therapy - these therapists are registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council. Cathy-Mae is currently a full-time PhD student in Mindfulness at SOAS, London. She teaches Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (modeled on Jon Kabat-Zinn's work) as well as MBCT. Under the auspices of the Clear Mind Institute, she also offers both training and teaching opportunities to professionals, especially yoga teachers, in the field of mindfulness.
