"Pull up, pull in & breathe"

October 2015

Published on: 01/10/15

I retired in 2001, my retirement being accelerated by a problem with my lower back, aggravated by a daily commute to Docklands. Even though I have been active for most of my life, my regular amount of activity had dropped during the mid-2000’s following the occasion when I was knocked flat by two dogs chasing a rabbit, this resulting in an injury to my right knee, and forcing me to slow down. I found PATS through a web search in 2009 and decided to give it a try. I was impressed by the care taken on my first visit, to find out where my problems were and how they could be helped, and the continuing care of all the tutors who have taken me over the years, who make sure that I am in the right position and gaining the maximum benefit from the exercise.

I have been very impressed with how quickly they notice any degree of discomfort and take measures to alleviate it. I signed up for my first series of classes and now attend a regular small class each week, supplemented by the occasional additional class, or series, for either Pilates or Yoga when something appeals to me. The rest as they say, is history. I have not had a problem with my back (apart from the occasional minor twinge) since I began with PATS. My right knee does most of what I ask from it and I am now also back to a regular exercise routine, walking my three dogs and attending regular aqua classes in addition to my time with PATS.

I have also enjoyed holidaying with Pat and her team, first in Spain and last year in Turkey. I am also joining them this October. This is a great holiday, which I would highly recommend, where you can equally well go alone or with a friend or partner and be made very welcome.
