July 2014

In May 2013 my world changed as I suffered a stroke. I had my 65th birthday and became an OAP while in hospital. My two main ambitions were to resume driving and play badminton, both were denied for several months. In October 2013, the Stroke Rehabilitation Team recommended me for the MK Exercise Referral Scheme. I had a vague idea what Pilates was but I chose to attend PATS Pilates principally because I could walk from home to the studio. I have not regretted that choice. After a few One to One sessions I attended a group to learn the fundamentals of Pilates. I now attend a weekly class. I am driving again and playing badminton twice a week. Pilates has improved my core strength and has helped with my balance. The instructors at PATS Pilates encourage me to carry out the exercises correctly and praise when I am showing improvement. I enjoy my weekly Pilates sessions and as a group we get on together very well, with smiles as everybody improves.
